How DELIA’S Cleaners Got Its Start

At DELIA’S Cleaners, we are driven by a desire to consistently provide our customers with the exceptional convenience, world-class customer service, and extraordinary quality. This was true with our first store in Northern California and remains true today with the 18 locations we have in the Phoenix area.

DELIA’s Cleaners started in 1968 as a 1-Hour Martinizing franchise in San Jose, California.  Phil Delia, senior was looking at a choice of franchises to acquire and asked his family for their opinion. The choices were dry cleaning or a Foster’s Freeze. Of course, the kids all voted for the Foster’s Freeze, the dry cleaning franchise won out. This one store grew to 80 locations serving the Silicon Valley. As the area continued to grow, Phil decided it was time to move to a more family-friendly location, somewhere people wanted to live and that was no further than a two-hour plane ride from San Jose.

In 1995, the family chose Phoenix as the new home for DELIA’S Cleaners. A real estate developer, who worked with the company in California, heard they were relocating and offered to lease them a dry cleaning store that was vacant at the time, and that had a plant on site. From this first store, DELIA’S Cleaners grew and by the end of the second year the company had six locations.

Today, DELIA’S Cleaners is the largest dry cleaners in Arizona with 18 locations throughout the Valley of the Sun. We also operate two central cleaning facilities that clean an average of 50,000 items each week, and operate a fleet of vans.  An integral part of the community, DELIA’S Cleaners employs more than 175 professionals, all dedicated to delivering the quality and service to each and every one of our customers. We are delighted to have so many loyal customers and to work with multiple generations of family members.

All of us at DELIA’S Cleaners want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your patronage. We look forward to serving you for decades to come.
