Did you know that DELIA’S Cleaners recycles plastic dry cleaning bags and hangers? In fact we recycle almost 35% of the hangers and half of the plastic bags. Along with other dry cleaners – and your support – we’re keeping 35 million hangers out of our nation’s landfills each year. And, every ton of garment film we collect saves the equivalent of 17 trees; 380 gallons of oil; 7,000 gallons of water; 4,100 kilowatt hours of electricity or 89 cubic feet of landfill.
That represents an incredible reduction in our collective carbon footprint. So, please, take your hangers and plastic bags, drop them off at any DELIA’S Cleaners, and let us recycle them.
Or if you prefer to re-use hangers and bags, here are a few ideas:
- Create trellises for garden plants by straightening and weaving together a few hangers in the shape you need. Put the trellis in the ground or on a fence and attach plants that need extra support, like tomatoes.
- Before you donate your lightly used clothes to UMOM or your favorite charity, ask if they need hangers. Then donate them along with your clothes.
- Tie a knot in one end of the plastic bag and use it as a liner for a recycling bin in the office. When full, discard the recycling and re-use the bag.
- Crumple up and use the plastic bags as packing material instead of bubble wrap or peanuts.
DELIA’S Cleaners is proud of the steps we have taken to help keep our communities clean and green, from our recycling program to our eco-friendly cleaning process. We appreciate your support in helping us make a difference.
