The Benefits of LED Lights for Christmas

Once upon a time candles were used to add decorative lights to Christmas trees and while it may have been a beautiful sight, it was a huge fire danger. Around 1900, electric incandescent Christmas tree lights appeared. They were easier to use and significantly safer. Today, LED technology is quickly replacing incandescent lights for Christmas, both on tree and on outdoor decorations. In fact, America’s most famous Christmas trees are now lit exclusively with LED Christmas lights, including the Capitol Christmas tree in Washington D.C. and the Rockefeller Center tree in New York City. In addition, many of the world’s largest cities have converted their entire Christmas displays to 100% LED lights.

Benefits of LED Christmas Lights
  • Greater energy efficiency. When you convert from incandescent to LED lights, you can expect to use up to 90% less energy. It’s a great way to go green for Christmas.
  • More design flexibility. Since they are more energy efficient, you can string more sets together, and use fewer electrical outlets and extension cords.
  • Cool to the touch. Because of their energy efficiency, they generate light without generating lots of heat. This makes the safer for families.
  • The bulbs last and last. They are commonly rated at lifetime estimates of 25,000 to 75,000 hours, which is about six to eight seasons of trouble-free service from a well-cared-for string of LED Christmas lights.
  • Bright, pure color quality. Their light diodes emit true colors, not white light that shines through colored glass like incandescent bulbs. The result is brighter, purer, more natural colors.

LED Christmas lights haven’t been on the market for long, but their benefits are quickly making them the standard. When will you make the switch?
